What’s Better?

What’s better than 40 minutes crushing calories on the elliptical and treadmill at the gym?

Watching the Phillies send the Dodgers to bed with a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th in Los Angeles while burning those 367 calories.

Indisputable Fact

Tim Lincecum is the shit.  That kid can hurl a baseball like it’s nobody’s business.    He should run for VP.  I’d vote for him.    Here’s a list of reasons why I think Lincecum would be good in the White House:

  • Cool under pressure
  • Knows how and when to bring the heat
  • Not afraid to drill the hardest hitters in the league
  • One hell of a delivery
  • Cute as a button
Of course, he’s too young to run for that office, but he’s not too young to win the Cy Young.

Road Trip – Day 4

Should I still be referring to it as a “Road Trip” after I got there?    Whatever.

On Sunday, we stayed a lot closer to home.   It’s become somewhat of a tradition to check out the local minor league baseball team.  This may not be such a good thing for the team, because I think of the six or seven games I’ve been to, they might have won one.

The really great thing about The Minors is that you can get some really awesome seats for super cheap.  We were pretty much right behind home plate, and the seats cost just $15 each.   It was a great spot to take some really awesome pictures from.   Click to enlarge.

Although, they lost, they nearly had a comeback in the bottom of the ninth, so it ended up being pretty exciting.   Also, we were sitting behind the scouts and the pitchers starting pitchers from both teams who were taking notes.  It was all fine and good until I got a little too excited.  ;)

This whole trip was quickly turning into an excuse for me to take a lot of pictures.    Just wait . . . There’s more.

Just sayin’.

My Second Game of the Season

I went to see the Giants again last night. In case you’re keeping count, that’s two Giants’ games and one A’s game. I am a baseball fiend. I told you I was going to go to more games this year, as I am a crazy single girl, and nothing will come between me and Brian Wilson, except maybe his atrocious facial hair choices.

Anyway, my brother’s boss has season tickets, and he gave a pair to me and my mom last night. We got to see Matt Cain not only pitch a great game, and take the win, but he hit a home run to boot. The only homer for the Giants in yesterday’s match up. Take that Designated Hitter! Cain’s got a batting average of .313. Fred Lewis almost hit for the cycle, hitting a single, double, and a triple. All he needed was that homer. Next time.

I had a really good time, and I got to do some cheering and hollering. I think that was the first time my mom and I went to a ball game together without my dad or brother, which was pretty cool.

Oh, and did I mention that the weather was perfect? ‘Cause it was. No freezing wind for this one.

What to Write?

I don’t really have anything to make up a full post today, so here’s a few interesting tidbits:

  • I’m going to the Giants game tonight with Momser.   Matt Cain is on the mound against the Houston Astros
  • It’s unusually warm in The City today, so much so that I saw a man in a kilt.  You know it’s one thing when the women start wearing skirts, but it’s a whole other level of warmth when the men join in.

And that’s all I got folks.  It’s just a slow news day, and I haven’t seen or done anything that I think is worthy of writing about.  I’ve just been having a very average day.

I’m off work tomorrow to do some more quality time with Momser, too.

I hope the faithful readers are having a more eventful week.

Brrrrr!

That was an exceptionally cold night at the ballpark last night. Tim Lincecum on the mound, sadly got his first loss of the season. I’m pretty sure that ump blew that call on the balk, but it’s hard to tell from the center field bleachers, you know. It’s all OK, though, because at least I got to go to the game. Also, I got to yell at some Dodgers’ fans. Seriously, the Giants were playing the Rockies. Where’d the Dodger-blues come from? AB got a kick out of some of my random baseball utterances. “Run you slow slow slow . . . .little man!”

You know what’s really hard? Sending text messages when you hands are frozen solid. But I managed, and I have to say, I’m becoming much more of a fan of text messaging and picture mail. Especially when I get random ones in the middle of the night that make absolutely no sense from what I can only assume are very drunk friends. I hope some day to get one that is actually important, something along the lines of “water broke. baby coming.”

Anyway, by the time the game was over, my feet were completely numb. It’s so weird to walk around like that, and to have to assume that you’re touching the ground. When I got home, I went right into the shower to try to warm up. Went to bed around midnight. Woke up at 1:35 by random text messages. Two within a minute from two different friends. Then continued waking myself up every other hour for no apparent reason all night long.

I’m tired. I’m crabby. My throat is a little sore from the hollering.

Monday I’m going to an A’s game. Crazy.

First Game of the Season

Yeah, last year, I didn’t go to a single Giants’ game. This year, I plan to make up for that. Tonight I’m going to the game with AB, and we’re sitting in the bleachers. I’ve never had bleacher seats at AT&T park, before. I have my scarf and my ball cap in my bag, and I’m heading over right after work.

Lincecum is on the mound tonight vs. Cook of the Rockies. He’s got a 1.23 ERA this season to date. Last night, the Giants shut out the Rockies 4-0. I’m hoping for a good game, and that the Giants will move one step closer to .500.  Also, I hope they don’t bring Zito in out of the bullpen.

I’ve also been invited to an A’s game on Monday. That should be . . . interesting. They’re playing Baltimore.

2 In a Row

I’ve decided to make a commitment in my life. I’m going to commit myself to watch more Giants’ games this season. I didn’t get to see the game last night, but I sat and watched tonights. I sneezed my way through 9 innings of tense, drama-filled, fantastic shut out pitching, including 10 strike outs by Jonathan Sanchez.

And in the bottom of the ninth, Dan Ortmeier hits a game winning walk off double.

And like that, the Giants have won two in a row, and they took two out of three from the Padres.

I love baseball. Is there anything more beautiful? I say ‘no’.

There is one golden bright side to living alone, I suppose. I can watch as many games as I want, without ever having to answer any questions, and I can even yell at the TV.

But maybe I should find a cool bar with a TV nearby to sit and watch a few amongst other people, too.

I guess spring isn’t all bad.
